Design and Features
Lenses with focal length of 35 mm and large maximum apertures are especially popular among photojournalists, videographers and wedding photographers. Canon EF 35/1.4L USM was designed for professional use - mainly for available and low-light shooting, however you can also use it in any lighting conditions. It offers exceptionally high optical performance at any focusing distance and is considered as one of the best Canon’s lenses together with EF 85/1.2L II USM and EF 135/2L USM.
The lens is a part of Canon’s series of Luxury lenses notable for their excellent build quality and robust design. The lens barrel is of moderate weight, made of high-quality plastic. The lens mount is metallic.
The lens features AF/MF focus mode switch.

|MF||Manual focus mode.|
The lens uses front filters with standard size of 72 mm which are easy to find. However, filters of such size are more expensive and mainly used with professional lenses.
The filter thread does not rotate during focusing which allows convenient use of different types of filters (including but not limited to polarizing and gradient).
The lens is equipped with ultrasonic motor, the autofocus is virtually silent and very fast.
Aspherical elements (ASPH, XA) minimize spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.
The lens incorporates a floating system that provides correction of aberrations and ensures constantly high image quality at the entire range of focusing distances from infinity down to the closest focusing distance. Learn more
The sharpness is excellent at the center of the frame already wide open. The edges and corners are good wide open, very good at F/2.8 and excellent from F/4. The background blur is slightly nervous. The subjects look almost three dimensional at large apertures due to high micro contrast and smooth transition between in-focus and out-of-focus areas of the image.
