|XF||The lens is designed for Fujifilm digital mirrorless cameras.|
|R||The lens is equipped with aperture ring.|
|LM||The lens is equipped with linear motor to provide smooth, very fast and virtually silent autofocus. Learn more|
|OIS||The lens is equipped with optical image stabilizer. The stabilizer allows to increase the shutter speed by several stops and shoot handheld in such lighting conditions and at such focal lengths where without stabilizer you will have to use tripod, decrease the shutter speed and/or increase the ISO setting which can lead to blurry and noisy images.|

Design and Features
The lens barrel is large, heavy, dust-proof and water-resistant, made of metal. The lens mount is metallic. Both the plastic zoom ring and metallic focusing ring rotate smoothly and are finely ribbed in order to provide a good grip and prevent slippage of fingers. The physical length remains constant both with zooming and focusing.
The focusing ring is not physically coupled with the focusing mechanism and works electronically (focus-by-wire) - turning of the ring actuates an electric motor that moves the focusing group of the lens to the proper position to achieve sharp focus.
The lens lacks focusing mode switch, therefore you have to set the automatic or manual focus mode from the camera.
The lens uses front filters with standard size of 72 mm which are easy to find. However, filters of such size are more expensive and mainly used with professional lenses.
The filter thread does not rotate during focusing which allows convenient use of different types of filters (including but not limited to polarizing and gradient).
Fujifilm offers a deep petal bayonet-type lens hood as a part of the package featuring a slide-out window which enables rotation of polarizing filter without removing the lens hood.
The lens is equipped with triple linear motor, the autofocus is virtually silent and fast.
The lens features optical image stabilizer, which, according to the manufacturer, compensates up to 5 stops of shutter speed. Theoretically it allows to capture sharp images of static subjects at shutter speeds down to 1/4 second at focal length of 140 mm(*).
