|HD||The HD multi-layer coating is applied to the surface of lens elements. It boosts light transmission, ensures sharp and high contrast images, minimizes ghosting and flares. The HD coating reduces reflections 50% more efficiently in comparison with traditional smc coating throughout the visible spectrum and has exceptional hardness, which ensures its increased durability.|
|D-FA||Full frame autofocus lens for Pentax digital SLR cameras. Has no aperture control ring and only supports electronic aperture control from the camera.|
|*||Professional lens with high quality optics and robust build. Meets the highest standards and provides excellent performance and flawless image quality unachievable with traditional optical technologies.|
|ED||The lens incorporates one or several low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.|
|AW||Dust-proof and water resistant lens.|
|DC||The lens is equipped with micromotor to provide moderately fast and quiet autofocus.|

Design and Features
The lens barrel is large, heavy, dust-proof and water-resistant, made of high-quality plastic. The lens mount is metallic. Both the zoom and focusing rings are wide, rubberized and ribbed in order to provide good grip and prevent finger slipping. The physical length of the lens remains constant during zooming. The lens has a distance scale.
The lens features QFS/A - QFS/M - MF focus mode switch.
|QFS/A||Autofocus mode which allows the user to switch to manual-focusing operation only when autofocus operation is completed.|
|QFS/M||Autofocus mode which enables the user to switch to manual focusing at any time - even when the autofocus system is in operation.|
|MF||Manual focus mode.|
The lens features focusing distance range limiter which allows to choose between the following focusing distance ranges:
|FULL||Full range of focusing distances.|
|1.2 m - 4 m||Range of focusing distances suitable for shooting nearby subjects.|
|4 m - ∞||Range of focusing distances suitable for shooting distant subjects.|
By setting the suitable focusing distance range, the actual autofocusing time can be shorter.
The lens uses front filters with standard size of 77 mm which are easy to find. However, filters of such size are more expensive and mainly used with professional lenses.
The filter thread does not rotate during focusing which allows convenient use of different types of filters (including but not limited to polarizing and gradient).
Dedicated petal bayonet lens hood (a part of the package) features a slide-out window which enables rotation of polarizing filter without removing the lens hood.
A fluorine coating has been applied to the outer surface of the front lens element to repel water or oil drops for easier cleaning of the lens surface.
The lens is equipped with micromotor, the autofocus is low noisy and fast. The lens features Quick-Shift Focus System: after autofocus is achieved, the focusing ring can be turned to adjust the focus manually. This feature eliminates the need for changing the focus mode to MF.
Typical Application1) Distant landscapes with perspective compression effect
2) On a tripod
