|HD||The HD multi-layer coating is applied to the surface of lens elements. It boosts light transmission, ensures sharp and high contrast images, minimizes ghosting and flares. The HD coating reduces reflections 50% more efficiently in comparison with traditional smc coating throughout the visible spectrum and has exceptional hardness, which ensures its increased durability.|
|DA||Autofocus lens for Pentax APS-C digital SLR cameras. Has no aperture control ring and only supports electronic aperture control from the camera.|
|ED||The lens incorporates low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.|
|AW||Dust-proof and water resistant lens.|
|DC||The lens is equipped with micromotor to provide moderately fast and quiet autofocus.|

Design and Features
Long-awaited super telephoto lens with longest focal length in the current Pentax lineup. Before its introduction, the longest focal length available without teleconverter for Pentax digital SLR owners was provided by DA* 300mm F/4 lens. HD Pentax-DA 560mm F/5.6 ED AW DC is the first K-mount lens to feature exclusive Pentax HD coating designed to be more durable and provide better resistance to flares compared to conventional SMC coating.
The lens barrel is large, heavy, dust-proof and water-resistant, made of metal. The lens mount is metallic. The focusing ring has width of 8cm and provides angle of rotation which is enough to perform precise manual focusing.
The lens features AF/MF focus mode switch.
|AF||Autofocus mode with Quick-Shift Focus System.|
|MF||Manual focus mode.|
The lens features focusing distance range limiter which allows to choose between the following focusing distance ranges:
|FULL||Full range of focusing distances.|
|5.6 m - 12 m||Range of focusing distances suitable for shooting nearby subjects.|
|12 m - ∞||Range of focusing distances suitable for shooting distant subjects.|
By setting the suitable focusing distance range, the actual autofocusing time can be shorter.
The lens uses both front filters with standard size of 112mm (very expensive) and 40.5mm filters which can be inserted in removable filter holder near the rear part of the barrel. Using the control ring, polarizing filter can be easily rotated without removing it from the holder.
A fluorine coating has been applied to the outer surface of the front lens element to repel water or oil drops for easier cleaning of the lens surface.
The lens is equipped with built-in telescopic lens hood.
The lens is equipped with micromotor, the autofocus should be low noisy and moderately fast. The lens features Quick-Shift Focus System: after autofocus is achieved, the focusing ring can be turned to adjust the focus manually. This feature eliminates the need for changing the focus mode to MF.
Low dispersion elements (AD, ED, LD, HLD, SD, UD etc) and fluorite elements minimize chromatic aberrations and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.
