|DG||The lens is designed for full-frame SLR cameras but can be also used on APS-C SLR cameras.|
|OS||The lens is equipped with optical image stabilizer. The stabilizer allows to increase the shutter speed by several stops and shoot handheld in such lighting conditions and at such focal lengths where without stabilizer you will have to use tripod, decrease the shutter speed and/or increase the ISO setting which can lead to blurry and noisy images.
Sigma lenses for Olympus, Pentax and Sony digital SLR cameras are not equipped with optical image stabilizers because these cameras have built-in sensor-shift image stabilization technology.
|HSM||The lens is equipped with ultrasonic motor to provide very fast and virtually silent autofocus. Learn more|
|| S||Belongs to Sports series lenses.|

Design and Features
For information on history of Sigma and development of Sigma Global Vision line please refer to the article dedicated to Sigma 35mm F/1.4 DG HSM | A.
The lens barrel is large, heavy, dust-proof and water-resistant, made of high-quality plastic (TSC). The lens mount is metallic. Please refer to the article dedicated to Sigma 35mm F/1.4 DG HSM | A for more information about TSC. In terms of build quality and design Sigma Global Vision line is a new direction for the company: cosmetically the lens differs from the earlier models and looks attractive.
The lens features AF/MF focus mode switch.
|AF||Autofocus mode with Full-Time Manual Focus.|
|MF||Manual focus mode.|
The lens uses front filters with standard size of 105 mm which are easy to find. However, filters of such size are more expensive and mainly used with professional lenses.
The filter thread does not rotate during focusing which allows convenient use of different types of filters (including but not limited to polarizing and gradient).
The lens is compatible with Sigma USB dock, an optional accessory which allows to connect the lens to a computer and customize its operation via Sigma Optimization Pro software. The customization for this lens includes updates of firmware via the Internet, autofocus microadjustments for 4 focal lengths and 4 shooting distances and setting the amount of rotation of the focusing ring which triggers FTM focusing, autofocus speed adjustment (3 modes available), adjustment of near and far limits of focusing range limiter, OS adjustment with priority for viewfinder image stabilization, stabilization of captured image or both.
Sigma also offers paid Mount Conversion Service (MCS) for this lens. With MCS, the mount of the lens can be converted to Canon EF, Nikon F or Sigma SA. Teleconverters, USB docks and other accessories for this lens are not eligible for MCS.
The lens features optical image stabilizer.
At the choice of the photographer the image stabilizer can operate in one of the following modes:
|Mode 1||Corrects vertical and horizontal camera shake. Mainly effective for shooting still subjects.|
|Mode 2||Corrects vertical camera shake during following shots in a horizontal direction.|
2) On a tripod
