|E||The lens is designed only for Sony APS-C digital mirrorless cameras.|
|G||Professional lens with high quality optics and robust build. Meets the highest standards and provides excellent performance and flawless image quality unachievable with traditional optical technologies.|
|OSS||The lens is equipped with optical image stabilizer. The stabilizer allows to increase the shutter speed by several stops and shoot handheld in such lighting conditions and at such focal lengths where without stabilizer you will have to use tripod, decrease the shutter speed and/or increase the ISO setting which can lead to blurry and noisy images.|
|PZ||The lens is equipped with Power Zoom technology. The change of focal length is driven by the electric motor and is done by turning the zoom ring or by moving a special lever (the more you turn the ring or move the lever, the more focal length changes).|

|Filter size:||95 mm|
The lens barrel is large, heavy, dust-proof and water-resistant, made of metal. The lens mount is metallic.
The focusing ring is not physically coupled with the focusing mechanism and works electronically (focus-by-wire) - turning of the ring actuates an electric motor that moves the focusing group of the lens to the proper position to achieve sharp focus.
The lens features focus clutch mechanism for switching the lens between autofocus and manual focus modes.
|MF||For manual focus, pull the ring back (towards the camera).|
|AF||To return to autofocus mode, push the ring forth.|
The lens uses front filters with standard size of 95 mm which are easy to find. However, filters of such size are more expensive and mainly used with professional lenses.
The filter thread does not rotate during focusing which allows convenient use of different types of filters (including but not limited to polarizing and gradient).
Aspherical elements (ASPH, XA) minimize spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.
Low dispersion elements (AD, ED, LD, HLD, SD, UD etc) and fluorite elements minimize chromatic aberrations and ensure excellent sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture.
The lens features optical image stabilizer, which, according to the manufacturer, compensates up to 4 stops of shutter speed. Theoretically it allows to capture sharp images of static subjects at shutter speeds down to 1/7 second at focal length of 110 mm(*).
* without the need to increase ISO sensitivity and/or use a tripod, at the same lighting conditions and at the same aperture
The lens is equipped both with traditional zoom ring and power zoom lever. Both zooming and/or focusing are performed internally.
Sony's original SMO (Smooth Motion Optics) design and construction minimizes breathing, axial shift, and focus shift while ensuring smooth, quiet operation.
